"The best way to raise money is to not need it"

Crowdfunded in 24 hours, shipped to 100+ countries and over £3.4m raised.

Our January instalment saw Oliver Montague, founder of Swytch go under the spotlight, shortly following his step back as CEO.

Best known as the company behind the Swytch eBike Conversion Kit, Oliver and his team have grown Swytch into the world's best-selling eBike kit, with over 100,000 customers worldwide.

For our first in-person event of 2026, The Founding Network's James Sutcliffe had an unfiltered conversation with Oliver that looked back on the journey and the decisions that got him to this point, including:

  • The early bets that paid off (and the ones that didn't)

  • How video became Swytch's growth engine

  • What it's really like to step back after building something from scratch

  • A glimpse of what he's building next

For founders and business builders that are curious about the full start-up life-cycle - from beginning, end and the messy middle - and what lessons they can take back to level-up.

Or you can read our round-up of his Top Ten Lessons for Founders here.
